A WAY WITH WORDS

Words matter. With over 500,000 words in the English language, great is the potential to utter sayings that could wound another.  Proverbs 10:19 says, “Where words are many, sin is not absent”. Gossip, slander, malice, grumbling and complaining, these are examples of ways we can wound others with what we say.

So too, ample opportunity exists for us to utter sayings that woo the heart of another. Another Proverb tells us the “right word at the right time is like a custom made piece of jewelry” (25;11). Words of love, words that are kind, words that offer patience and affirmation reflect a humble and understanding heart.
